Re: NOTICE OF PROJECT CLOSURE
Education Development Center (EDC) is an international non-profit and project-based organization that has been operating in Rwanda since 2009 under various projects. However, we would like to inform you that EDC will be closing its office in Rwanda on December 31, 2022. We therefore request that any unpaid invoice for which you have a purchase order from EDC be submitted to us no later than December 15, 2022, as there will not be any ground for payment claims after December 31, 2022.

Call for application for 4th Young Citizen Training Program (YCTP) 2023
Introduction
The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) contributes to of the empowerment of state and non-state actors to play their part in Rwanda's sustainable development process. It is clear that an active youth needs to be involved in this process. Rwanda needs young citizens who are well-informed, engaged, able to develop the necessary skills and values.
Thus, the FES is calling for application from interested young men and women aged between 23-35 years to apply for its 4th Young Citizen Training Program (YCTP) 2023. The program promotes young Rwandans to participate actively in the development of the country by utilizing their full potentials.
About this program for youth
The Young Citizen Training Program (YCTP) is a nine months part time residential program in Kigali for 24 young Rwandans. It covers nine thematic modules on socio-political areas ,soft skill training on community engagement. The program is conducted in 2 – 3 days / month running from February through October.
Beneficiaries
24 young women and men (aged between 23 and 35 years) from civil society organizations, government institutions, trade unions, the media, the private sector, universities, the public sector and various districts in Rwanda.
Specific Objectives of the program
- To build the capacity of Young citizens representing various organizations and institutions
- To contribute to the processes of achieving the national vision,
- To enhance and apply relevant concepts related to personal development,
citizenship and youth civic engagement, - Connect with experts in different fields for their future career development.
The YCTP program focuses on:
- Concrete projects which drive social and political change
- Strengthen collective activism and youth engagement
- A space for more political and value-oriented discussions
- Establish connections to projects and activism of participants
- Social democratic values
Expected results
At the end of the program, young citizens are able to:
- Discover the concepts of good governance and their implications in the citizenship role in relation to the national priorities,
- Understand and situate themselves in relation to regional and international trends,
- Develop democratic values and culture in their citizenship,
- Use acquired techniques and tools to engage more actively in society,
- Carry out a personal project to improve organizational structures and behaviours,
- Utilize their skills and potentials in their respective communities
- Raise their level of confidence in citizen participation and voicing their capabilities
Training Approach
The YCTP is a group citizenship learning program that includes
- Thematic training and project development tools, activities and conferences; visits and meetings with Rwandan and foreign personalities.
- Study tours and simulation exercises and role-playing games.
- Personal, group or peer support work, online documentation; film screenings and case studies.
- Soft skills that respond to non-academic gaps
Duration and Frequency
The program is run in 9 sessions of 2-3 days per month (Thursday – Saturday) / in a residential system in Kigali.
The launch of the program will be organized in February and the closing of the trained citizens will take place in October 2023. Participants are expected to be available and participate throughout the whole length of the program.
Selection criteria
- Young Rwandan women and men, who are involved in social and/or community activities,
- Aged between 23 and 35 years,
- Holders of a university degree and/or 2 years of professional experience,
- Fluent in Kinyarwanda and English, French knowledge is an advantage.
