BACKGROUND
Good Neighbors International (GNI) is an international humanitarian and development Non- Governmental Organization in General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC). GNI strives to improve lives, especially children’s lives, through community development projects. With regards to strengthening our various activities in the society, especially in Income Generation domain, Good Neighbors International would like to recruit one Intern to be based at our office located in Huye southern province of Rwanda.
Veterinarian Intern (To be based in Huye Area Office). .

The Intern will perform the following duties and responsibilities:
• To plan, execute and monitor livestock projects through regular checking and report progress to direct supervisors on a regular basis,
• To participate in livestock breeds selection and distribution to target beneficiaries as well,
• To run the regular system through payback among beneficiaries,
• To check the health conditions of livestock distributed and technically advise farmers in accordance,
• To examine animals to detect and determine the nature of diseases or injuries,
• To treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication and other veterinary services convenient,
• To give advice to animal owners on the subject of sanitary measures, feeding and general care, in order to promote animal health,
• To vaccinate animals against various diseases,
• To assist the community in animal health education and advocacy,
• To conduct regular beneficiary’s meetings together with other project stakeholders to discuss project progress and measures for improvement,
• To conduct regular follow-up to existing livestock saving groups and bring new ideas to make them profitable,
• To monitor existing livestock infrastructures and technically advise beneficiaries to maintain their safety.
