JOB DETAILS:

University of Global Health Equity is on a mission to radically change the way health care is delivered around the world. UGHE is a new university based in Rwanda that is building the next generation of global health professionals—doctors, nurses, researchers, and public health and policy experts—into leaders and change-makers who strive to deliver more equitable, quality health services for all. .

Job Responsibilities:
• Assist in drafting the framework to establish UGHE’s Global CBE program;
• Actively participate in the development of curricula and program structures, schedules, recruitment strategies and approaches;
• Cultivate relationships with community health workers, nurses and others in the public health and clinical community (in partnership with UGHE team members);
• Coordinate CBE implementation and oversight of all educational activities in the global program;
• Coordinate CBE implementation and oversight of all educational activities in the existing CBE program and broader MBBS degree;
• Be highly knowledgeable in medical education approaches, project management skills and customer service (all key components of the role);
• Where appropriate, teach portions of the Global CBE curricula;
• Act as the UGHE representative when recruiting and hosting global medical students (Butaro campus and elsewhere in Rwanda);
• Partner with UGHE work-study students and community members to gain support for program operations; Collaborate with all departments across UGHE on such efforts;
• Conduct continuous evaluations and research on the implementation of the new Global CBE program with the aim of highlighting the impact and identifying areas for improvement;
• Conduct both quantitative and qualitative evaluations of faculty performance, student performance, satisfaction with the courses and academic outcomes;
• Support any additional community-based education or community service activities as they arise such as youth or adult education in Butaro or Umuganda.

Job Qualifications:
• Experience in community-based medical education, curriculum development, community engagement, medicine, public health or other similar field required;
• Master’s degree required (i.e., MGHD, public health, global health, higher education);
• Project management experience required; project management certificate desired;
• Excellent project management skills; ability to manage complex assignments from creation to completion, plan and prioritize multiple projects, and coordinate teams to meet deadlines;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
• English proficiency required;
• Kinyarwanda proficiency required;
• The French language desired;
• Ability to serve as an external representative to international students and faculty;
• Exemplary interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across departments and organizations;
• Demonstrated poise, tact, integrity, and professionalism;
• Mandatory to live in Butaro full-time, including many weekends;
• Interest in social justice and social determinants of health strongly desired;
