Role overview
VSO aspires to take its work in Uganda to a significantly greater scale than at present. It is already one of our larger programmes, but there is potential for it to grow, expanding significantly the numbers of primary actors we can support to achieve better development outcomes.
Getting to scale does not only involve significant efforts in business pursuit. It also involves assuring quality in implementation, ensuring we deliver effectively and efficiently even as our programmes grow.
We are looking for a leader with passion and energy to take forward this ambitious agenda. The right person will be a natural networker and communicator, experienced at pre-positioning with donors and building relationships with potential consortium partners. S/he will be passionate about VSO's mission, and able to inspire our team of staff and volunteers as well as other stakeholders with the power of volunteering to create real, sustainable change. S/he will be a strong operational manager, able to ensure compliance with the highest standards of project and award management. That may mean having courageous conversations and managing change such that we get the people and the systems we need to deliver change excellently with and for our primary actors. .
