The Global Institute of Governance and Sustainability (GIGS) is pleased to invite you for a Training on Procurement Management for staff in Government/World Bank Funded Projects.

About the Training

Procurement has a major impact on Development as resources in projects and programs are mostly used to procure goods, works or services critical to the achievement of the project development objectives (PDOS). Public procurement represents 10 to 20% of the GDP of a country. Unless the necessary control measures are in place in procurement, opportunities for fraud & corruption affect the achievement of the PDOS.

Thus, the objective of the training is to develop a shared understanding of the basic procurement principles that reinforce public procurement system; the governing procurement rules and procedures; and the tools of procurement system in Bank financed projects. The training shall provide participants limited coverage of the overall spectrum of competencies and steps needed for successful implementation of the procurement process for standard goods, equipment, works and services under Bank financed projects.

Standard Procurement Documents

Project Procurement Strategy for Development (PPSD)

Discrepancies between the law governing public procurement in Rwanda and the World Bank procurement requirements and the way to handle them. ❖ The common issues leading to adverse/qualified compliance and value for money audit opinions as per the Office Auditor General of State Finances (OAG) of Rwanda.

Venue: Classic Resort Lodge-Musanze Rwanda

Event date and deadline of registration: The training shall be held from 25th to 28th June 2024 from 9:00am to 5:00pm daily. The registration and payment deadline is on the 18th June 2024.
