Support the implementation of UN Women economic programme activities including those related to the Sustainable Cities initiative.
Background The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) identified Women's Economic Empowerment as one of its global priorities in the conviction that a woman who is economically empowered is better placed to attain empowerment in other aspects of her life. Investing in women's economic empowerment sets a direct path toward gender equality, poverty eradication, and inclusive economic growth. More than half of the world's population already lives in cities, and this number is likely to grow to 70 percent by 2030.
