Description of Activity/Service:

RTI is an independent organization dedicated to conducting innovative, multidisciplinary research that improves the human condition. Founded as a centerpiece of the Research Triangle Park in North Carolina in 1958, RTI offers innovative research and development and a full spectrum of multidisciplinary services. It has a worldwide staff of more than 4,000 people. 

RTI’s Feed the Future Rwanda Kungahara Wagura Amasoko (KWA) invites sealed bids from eligible service providers for the provision of to procure new cold trucks for project requirements, as per the specifications provided below. The vendor should respond to the requirement of this RFQ in full.

2. Refrigeration configuration

• Body structure to be rigid and capable of withstanding vibrations and shocks from rough roads, while keeping the driver and load safe. Load tie-down eyes, hooks, or rails fitted.
• All walls and roof panels (internal and external), sub-frames, main-frames, and chassis must be anti-corrosive treated.
• The external surface of the body must be of a highly reflective finish (e.g. white) or more heat-reflective finish, if available
• Refrigerant materials: CFC- and HCFC-free to comply with the requirements. The casing and/or the compressor body of each refrigeration unit must carry a permanent label clearly identifying the refrigerant used, and in letters not less than 10 mm high.
• Box body type with two doors at the rear for full width opening with at least three hinges per door. Hinges and closing mechanism must be of a robust design.
• Emergency exist must be possible from the inside of the refrigerated compartment.
• Mechanism required latching the door in open position, when swung open by 270 degrees against the side panels of the vehicle.
• Cold strip curtain fitted behind the doors.
• The body should be insulated to .4W/m2C (ATP heavily insulated specification), or better.
• The insulation material in the board is made of imported polyur ethane and the thickness is 80mm
• The inner and outer wall panels are made of high quality 2.2mm FRP (color steel plate, stainless steel, aluminum alloy are optional).
• The bottom plate is made of aluminum plate or FRP
• Stainless steel door frame, hinge, wrap angle, door lock, 4 units of anti-collision rubber
• Temperature control monitor on wall inside the refrigerated zones and outside door and in the Driver monitor.

Other important information to be provided.

• Fuel consumption rating (liters/km)- minimum is 10 km/hr.
• Itemized list of all local service garage locations and/or authorized service centers (Rwanda)
• Itemized list of all local dealers who stock spare parts in Rwanda (name and Location)

 Please note that the RTI team will conduct activities in remote and difficult area to access and serviceability and reparability of vehicles will be an important consideration for award.
