Request for Proposal forVideo Production The challenge: All across sub-Saharan Africa, millions of young people struggle every day with access to education and employment – and the kinds of livelihoods that lead to economic security and mobility for themselves and their families. Every young person deserves the chance to be educated; every young person deserves the opportunity to have a meaningful job.
Who we are: Kepler is a nonprofit university program that is building a transformative model of education-to-employment services for these young people across the region. Our ultimate goal is to contribute to the economic mobility of thousands of individuals, families, and communities in all of our countries of operation. We want to reimagine what higher education can look like in sub-Saharan Africa.

We provide a different kind of education – one that combines in-person, online and on-the-job learning in service of a singular goal: decent jobs for young Africans. And we have been successful, with more than 90% of scholars employed within six months of graduating. Kepler, through a partnership with Southern New Hampshire University, has enrolled more than 1,000 students across our campuses in Rwanda (Kigali and the Kiziba refugee camp in Western Rwanda).
Key to our mission is serving marginalized communities – refugees, very vulnerable students, and students with disabilities. To do this we address the barriers they face head on with the Iteme preparatory program that empowers secondary school students from refugee and surrounding communities to access and succeed in tertiary education, at Kepler or elsewhere.
Project OverviewGoals
Kepler would like to create an animated video that explains our Iteme (bridge in Kinyarwanda) preparation program. The goal is for the audience to understand why Iteme exists by understanding the common barriers refugee youth in Africa face when trying to access tertiary education and employment. The audience should also understand how the Iteme program addresses/breaks down each of those barriers.
Target AudienceThere are few target audiences for the video:
• Universities, technical colleges, and advanced training programs (mostly in Africa) who may want to recruit students from our Iteme program
• Existing and potential donors as well as other humanitarian /education organizations who want to better understand Kepler’s work
• Perspective students (although this is not the main target audience)
Distribution StrategyThe video will be shared on Kepler’s social media accounts and be featured on our website. We would also share direct links to the video via email etc.
