  1. About Better World Rwanda

Better World Rwanda is a Korean International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO) dedicated to advancing Health and Sanitation, Rural Development, Sustainable Livelihood, and Education. Currently, Better World operates globally in countries such as Senegal, Turkey, Syria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Nicaragua, among others. Our activities include community development, healthcare, infrastructure enhancement, nutritional support, and disaster relief.

In partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Better World Rwanda aims to support 420 beneficiaries in the Rwamagana district by providing livestock (goats) through the KOICA-AWEE project.

  1. Request for Proposal (RFP) Details

Better World Rwanda is seeking financial proposals from registered and reputable companies for the supply of goats to beneficiaries in Rwamagana district, specifically within the Mwulire and Munyiginya sectors.

  1. The objective of the activity

To provide goats to 420 beneficiaries (400 participants and 20 facilitators) of the KOICA-AWEE PROJECT in the Rwamagana district by the 2nd week of December 2024 (9-13 December 2024) to support economic empowerment and enhance their livelihoods

Target group

420 beneficiaries (400 participants and 20 facilitators) from Rwamagana district in 3 cells of Mwulire sector (Ntunga, Bushenyi, and Mwulire cells) and 4 cells of Munyiginya sector (Binunga, Nkomangwa, Bwana, and Nyarubuye cells)

  1. Scope of Work

The selected supplier will be responsible for:

  • Sourcing and Procurement: Providing 420 goats that meet the required health and quality standards, ensuring suitability for the local environment and conditions.
  • Health and Quality Assurance: Ensuring that all goats are in good health, free from diseases, and appropriate for distribution in the local setting.
  • Transportation and Distribution: Delivering the goats to the designated beneficiaries across the Rwamagana district, as specified in the Mwulire and Munyiginya sectors.
  1. Deliverables
  • Delivery of 420 Goats: Ensure the full distribution of 420 goats to the identified beneficiaries within the specified timeline.
  • Comprehensive Final Report: A detailed report outlining the procurement and distribution process, including any challenges encountered and the solutions implemented.
  1. Timeline and delivery period

The goats are to be distributed by the second week of December 2024. The selected supplier is expected to complete the entire procurement and delivery process within 20 days from the contract award date. Delivery must be made to the project implementation areas (Rwamagana district, specifically Mwulire and Munyiginya sectors, as detailed above).

This document outlines the requirements for the provision of livestock to beneficiaries, ensuring alignment with Better World Rwanda’s goals and the needs of the KOICA-AWEE project.

Small livestock (goat)

  • Breed Type: Local or hybrid breeds with a preference for Boar, Saanen, Alpine, or Gara.
  • Age: 5-12 months.
  • Weight: 15-25 kg.
  • Physical Condition:
  1. Must be in good health, without any physical anomalies.
  2. Must have the correct number of teats.
  3. Should be visually appealing, with no signs of illness or infection (e.g., no coughing or tearing).
  • Appearance:
  1. Eyes should be bright and free from infection.
  2. Teeth must be appropriate for their age, with no missing teeth, overly long teeth, or signs of receding gums (indicative of old age).
  • External Health:
  1. Free of wounds and external parasites.
  2. Clean tail, with no signs of diarrhea.
  • Location of Purchase: Goats should be sourced, if possible, from areas close to the designated distribution zones to minimize stress and adaptation issues.

  1. Application and Requirements

The following terms and conditions shall be observed during the tendering process:

  1. A proposed delivery schedule/time frame
  2. Provision of three recent good completion certificates of similar supplies
  3. Copy of RDB certificate
  4. Copy of VAT certificate
  5. Valid Tax clearance
  6. Valid Good standing certificate
  7. Proof of financial capacity by submitting bank statements (balance) or a credit line equal to or exceeding the bid amount.
  8. A financial proposal (quotation) including all related taxes, transportation of small livestock (from the selling point up to the distribution site), and other associated costs.
  9. The supplied small livestock that does not comply with the technical specifications will not be accepted and received. The supplier will be requested to replace them before payment.
