Background And Purpose Of The Assigment:
The United Nations World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger. WFP Rwanda works in partnership with the Government and other stakeholders through the direct implementation of integrated programmes targeting the most vulnerable people and will progressively shift towards building national capacity to formulate, manage and implement programmes for achieving zero hunger.
In implementing its activities, WFP will bridge the humanitarian–development nexus and leverage its extensive experience and the contributions it has made in Rwanda over many decades in order to achieve five strategic outcomes:
• Refugees and returnees in Rwanda have access to adequate and nutritious food at all times.
• Vulnerable populations in food-insecure communities and areas have improved access to adequate and nutritious food all year.
• Children under 5, adolescents and pregnant and nursing women and girls in Rwanda have improved access to nutritious foods and services that enable them to meet their nutrition needs all year.
• Smallholder farmers, especially women, have increased marketable surplus and access to agricultural markets through efficient supply chains by 2030.
• The Government of Rwanda and the humanitarian community is provided with adequate, timely, cost-efficient, and agile supply chain services and expertise necessary to effectively respond to emergency crisis.
JOB PURPOSE: This internship position will contribute to the overall monitoring and implementation of Smallholder Farmer activities including the Farm to Market Alliance (FtMA), MCF, SMART, SAPMP, and CA Projects.

Key Accountabilities (not all-inclusive)
1. Provide technical support and assist in the development and implementation of various activities linked to SHF support and processes at the field office level, supporting alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines.
2. With the guidance of SAMS programme associate and WFP Country Office SHF unit, the intern will act as the focal point for SHF-related field activities.
3. Provide specialized support to SHF operations and programmes to ensure that the various activities are performed within the established targets following WFP’s policies and procedures in the following areas:
o Conduct needs assessments of target SHFs, using standardized tools and approaches
o Facilitate participating farmer organizations and farmer-friendly aggregation entities to access agricultural services by coordinating with key value chain stakeholders on the ground
o Facilitate linkages of cooperatives to private sector entities for access to post-harvest handling equipment
o Monitor and assist cooperatives and other aggregation entities to adhere to terms of forward delivery contracts facilitated by WFP
o Conduct training of trainers of partner staff, as well as ensure quality monitoring of all SHF-related capacity building activities.
4. Within the specific area of responsibility, prepare a range of reports and data analysis (e.g., programme status, performance) and highlight trends/issues ensuring deliverables adhere to corporate standards and quality control.
5. Ensure and/or perform accurate, timely recording of data within the specific technical area of work and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
6. Support the capacity building of cooperating partners involved in implementing WFP supported activities related to smallholder farmers.
Other Functional Requirements (if any)
• Programme Monitoring and Review; gathers, organizes, and provides data on outputs, processes, and outcomes.
• Qualitative/Quantitative Methodology: Understand and applies an appropriate data collection tool to monitoring and review evaluations in line with WFP guidance and technical standards.

Standard Minimum Qualifications
Education:
A recent graduated with a Bachelor’s degree (within the past 12 months) in Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Rural Development, Agri-business, or other relevant degree.
Experience:
Not a mandatory requirement, but internship in similar capacities would be a plus
Knowledge &Skills:
• Able to critically review and analyze data and other information,
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, and develop productive working relationships
• Exhibits capacity to provide inputs into the development, implementation, and realignment of the programme
• Interest working with farmers and cooperatives in rural areas
Languages:
Fluency in English. Knowledge of Kinyarwanda is an asset.
