Summary:
The U.S. Mission in Kigali is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for position of Information Programs Assistant (Mailroom).
The work schedule for this position is Full time (40 hours per week).
Supervisory Position: No

• Occasional Travel
• To pick up incoming and outgoing pouch, Diplomatic Post Office (DPO), express and local mail.
Duties
Under the supervision of the Information Management Specialist (IMS), the incumbent coordinates with the locally employed (LE) Mailroom Supervisor on Mission Kigali's Central Mail Room operations. S/he provides guidance, oversight, and ensuring proper Management control on the receiving, screening, sorting, preparing and local and international distribution of incoming/outgoing unclassified pouches, mails and related materials. Incumbent also oversees the Classified Pouch operation.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum two years’ experience in handling and delivering pouches, and/or of postal management is required.
Education Requirements:
Completion of High school is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE:
Level IV (Fluent) Speaking/Reading of English is required. (This may be tested).
Qualifications:
All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications and complete a mandatory probationary period for LE Staff.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
• The Mission may consider any of the following when determining successful candidacy: nepotism, conflicts of interest, budget, and residency status.
• Current employees of the Mission who have not successfully completed their initial probationary periods are not eligible to apply. Current employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory or MBC score of 100 points or less, on their most recent Employee Performance Report (EPR) are not eligible to apply.
• Current employees of the Mission hired on a Family Member Appointment (FMA) or a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within the first 90 calendar days of their employment. This does not apply for employees on a PSA (Temp), or those are hired on a When Actually Employed (WAE) or intermittent work schedule.
• Candidates who are EFMs, USEFMs, AEFMs, or MOHs must have at least one year remaining on their sponsor’s tour of duty to be considered eligible to apply for this position.
