HR and Training Coordinator

About the Position
The Rwanda HR and Training Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training and retaining high quality talent within the Rwanda Program. This position will be responsible for creating a
robust HR and training program that ensures alignment between HQ and the Rwanda field program while adhering to relevant legislation and best practice. This will require an individual
with a passion for supporting employees to reach their potential but also a keen eye for detail to ensure alignment with relevant laws and legislation.
Duties & Responsibilities
Engagement with Leadership (10%)
• Partner with the Global Talent Team to operationalize a high-quality employee experience at scale, from recruitment through onboarding, that reflects Bridges to Prosperity’s purpose and learning driven culture
• Partner with Global Talent Team to ensure alignment between HQ and Rwanda HR and goals and policies, while adhering to Rwandan legislation and best practice
• Partner with Global Talent Team and Rwanda Leadership team to build organizational culture and effectiveness through identification of policies, training, special programs, communications, processes, and projects as needed to build capacity, bridge gaps, and improve staff experience
• Lead staff surveys to gather feedback from the team in order to foster a positive organizational culture
HR-Specific Functions (70%)
• Lead and manage recruitment, selection, hiring, onboarding, performance evaluation, performance improvement, conflict resolution, offboarding, employee relations and employee wellness, creating and documenting systems where needed, in alignment with company policies, established systems, and Rwandan legislation
• Perform and maintain up to date salary and benefits (total compensation package) benchmarking for all non-HQ hire positions within the Rwanda program
• Liaise with the Health, Safety and Welfare Manager to ensure compliance with policies, protocols and guidelines
• Manage existing benefits plans, such as medical insurance, and contribute to long-term benefits planning to optimize employee recruiting and retention efforts
• Review and update Rwanda Employee Handbook annually in accordance with HQ and Rwanda HR and goals and policies, while adhering to Rwandan legislation
• Coordinate and liaise with HR consultants as necessary
• Support with payroll processing, as and when is necessary
• Ensure all HR documentation is updated and filed correctly
Training and Employee Engagement Functions (20%)
• Foster an open and enthusiastic work environment with team members through the development and facilitation of employee engagement activities
• Building on existing resources and training gaps, create an effective training program for onboarding of new team members
• Support managers to organize training in accordance with Bridges to Prosperity’s training program
• Maintain accurate records and documentation for all training completed by staff, including any required training renewals
• Manage and track the Professional Development (PD) of every team member and ensure requested PD is well aligned with B2P mission and goals
• Elaborate a yearly capacity building plan for the Rwanda program that aligns with organizational objectives
• Support team with both internal and external professional mentorship development
Qualifications
• Strong commitment to building a diverse, inclusive workplace that optimizes employee engagement and fosters an inclusive and psychologically safe culture
• At least 3 years of professional experience in a related field of work with a successful track record of managing HR functions and supporting training
• Understanding of Rwanda Labor Law, International Labor Organization (ILO) and HR best practices
• Demonstrated excellence creating and implementing programmatic systems
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English. Kinyarwanda is desired
• Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and other software
• Clear, concise and efficient communication within teams and excellent interpersonal skills
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
• International experience preferred, cultural sensitivity required
Working Conditions
This position will be based in Kigali, Rwanda but regular travel to rural/isolated locations and construction sites will be required.
Direct Reports
This position will not have any direct reports but will be expected to support all B2P Rwanda staff members as it relates to training and HR.
