CONCESSIONAL FINANCING FOR BUSINESSES OPERATING IN THE FIELD OF EMERGENCY PREVENTION AND PREPAREDNESS

Background

Kumwe Hub, part of Save the Children, is an African-focused innovative finance and impact investment intermediary within Save the Children based in Rwanda. We support the growth, success, and sustainability of local businesses that are having a positive impact on children.

Kumwe Hub is pleased to announce that we are seeking expressions of interest (EOI) from Rwanda-based businesses operating in the field of emergency response and preparedness. This call is open to businesses that offer products, services or expertise to prevent humanitarian emergencies or to ensure safety of individuals, communities, and the environment before, during and after an emergency occurs. Typical examples of humanitarian emergencies include natural disasters, public health crises, environmental disasters, refugee crises, famine, and food crises or related emergencies. 

About the Financing Opportunity:

This initiative aims to support businesses dedicated to enhancing emergency prevention, preparedness, and response capabilities to grow and increase their ability to prevent emergencies or to respond effectively in emergency situations. This financing opportunity targets businesses that offer innovative solutions, products, and services aimed at ensuring the safety of individuals, communities, and the environment before, during and after an emergency occurs.

Whether your business specializes in technology solutions, emergency communication systems, safety training, crisis management and consulting, health services, environmental monitoring, community preparedness education, emergency equipment supplies, equipment manufacturing, or consultancy in the emergency management sector; we invite you to submit an expression of interest for potential financial support through loans and seed capital. 

Eligibility Criteria:

• Rwanda-based businesses registered with the Rwanda Development Board (RDB).
• Businesses that have generated consistent revenue for at least one year.
• Businesses that offer a product, service, or expertise to prevent humanitarian emergencies or to reduce the damaging effects of unavoidable emergencies.
• Demonstrated commitment to innovation and impact in the field of emergency prevention and preparedness.
• Businesses that impact children and families. 

Benefits to Businesses

Businesses that qualify will receive the following benefits: Seed capital, wrap around support, including specialized technical expertise focused on helping them grow and improve their ability to prevent emergencies or reduce the impact of unavoidable ones.
