JOB DETAILS:
Org. Setting and Reporting These positions are located in the English Unit, Meetings Coverage Section, Coverage and Media Services Branch of the News and Media Division in the Department of Global Communications. Overall guidance is provided by the Chief of Section, and direct supervision by a Senior Editor and a Senior Editorial Assistant. The Meetings Coverage Section produces press release summaries, in English and French, of official meetings and other United Nations events at Headquarters and at overseas conferences. The positions are available for approximately two to three months during the main part of the General Assembly session between September and December 2019. .
 Job Responsibilities:
The Editorial Assistant/Proofreader will be responsible for the following duties:
• Proofreads and reviews meetings summaries and press releases for clarity, spelling, grammar, consistency and factual accuracy in accordance with UN editorial guidelines and terminology.
• Ensures that text is formatted to UN Press style and standards.
• Rotates in shifts, as needed.
• Stays available for overtime and on-call assignments, depending on the needs of the office.
• Performs other related work as required.
