Crop Processing and food quality management Program Coordinator Senior Research Fellow

Job description
Report to the Division Manager Crop Post-harvest and Processing Management and has the following responsibilities:
• To coordinate the development and the implementation of research in Crop Processing and Food Quality Management in accordance to the work plan and budget;
• Coordinate, monitor and evaluate of research in Crop Processing, Food Quality and Nutrition activities
• To ensure mentorship for junior scientists in conception, planning, monitoring and evaluation in Crop Processing and Food Quality & nutrition;
• Establish and maintain effective collaboration with other researchers, locally, regionally and internationally;
• To participate in monitoring and evaluation of disseminated technologies on Crop Processing and Food Quality & nutrition;
• To participate in the development and implementation of winning projects on Crop Processing and Food Quality & nutrition;
• To supervise, consolidate and produce technical and scientific reports;
• To analyse, publish and disseminate research findings;
• To participate in meetings, seminars, conferences relevant to field of research and bring visibility of institution in local and international forums
• Ensure that the institution has and maintains a good reputation
• Perform any other duty as required by the competent authorities.

• Having led or contributed to the production and dissemination of sixteen (16) extension materials including technical guidelines, documentary films, and other extension materials for innovations aiming to increase farmer’s production, productivity and resilience capacities
• Having at least eight (8) years of relevant working experience in agricultural research and/or extension
• Having led the generation of (1) innovation/technology for agricultural development
• Having authored five (5) publications as first author and seven (7) publications as a co-author in peer-reviewed journal
• Being conversant with national and sector policies and development agenda
• Proven experience to work with farmers and industry stakeholders in research and extension
• Capacity in project development and resources mobilization
• Understanding of the National and International contexts of Food Processing and Food Quality Management Research and Development and ability to develop a comprehensive research agenda for the Food Processing and Food Quality Management Program in line with national strategic planning framework
