ARC presently works in and with partners in ten countries globally.
ARC has consistently operated in Rwanda since 1994, and today has a strong and committed team of over 200 regular, full-time national staff and partners – implementing programs in Primary health care, RH, HIV and Nutrition, WASH, Shelter/Infrastructure, and SGBV & Protection.
VACANCY – CASE WORKER/CHILD PROTECTION (1)
Our work in Rwanda currently covers all the refugee locations and their kind Rwandan-host communities. And we are always looking to deepen our work and, jointly with our partners, offer lasting impact with and for the communities we serve!
ARC is looking for a qualified, self-driven and committed individual to join our team in the stated position – to be based full time in any one of the field sites (refugee camps) where ARC has active operations.
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The primary responsibility of this role is community-based child protection through supporting individual children and families and handling child-related cases. The Child Protection Caseworker is responsible for providing psychosocial support to SGBV child survivors. S/he will work closely with relevant colleagues to identify children at risk, children with special needs and provide case management services in line with Rwanda’s Standard Operating procedures, and Global minimum standards of child protection case management. .
Key Responsibilities
• Work with residents at the assigned site, and other agencies to promote communal led child protection mechanism
• Assess, identify and verify the children with special needs and work with relevant stakeholders/implementing partners to address the identified needs;
• Provide case management services in line with the National Standard Operating Procedures for case management & Global Child Protection Case Management Guidelines;
• Refer cases with specific needs to the competent service providers, follow up and document referred cases.
• Provide and keep adequate documentation of all cases in child protection including establishment and update of the BIAs and BIDs as appropriate;
• Liaise with the programs social and community services’ teams to engage children in recreation activities at their leisure;
• Responsible for closely coordinating with relevant external agencies for service provision and referrals to national mechanisms to report cases of children at high risk of harm as per the agreed SoP and referral pathway in place to ensure the child’s best interests.
• Be proactive in identifying opportunities to better support children through facilitating processes, systems, etc.
• Support program volunteers and other community-based structures in their daily routine follow-ups and home visits to identify and support child protection cases; and
• Prepare required daily, weekly and monthly reports and briefs.

Skills, Behaviors
• Excellent report writing, communication, and analytical skills.
• Comfortable working with unaccompanied children from multicultural backgrounds
• Proven record on non-use of violence or abuse against children
• The capable communicator in English; including written
• Conversance with French and Kinyarwanda an added advantage
• Self-motivated and client-oriented with a strong sense of personal ethics, integrity, and quality
• Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills, and a high level of flexibility and tolerance to ambiguits
