1.About CDP
The Center for Development Policy (CDP) is a Pan-African non-profit and non-partisan think tank that exists to contribute to the development of African countries through policy analysis and capacity building. It is against this background, CDP is organizing a training workshop on “Results-based Monitoring and Evaluation”

2. Course Description
The aim of this course is to impart the technical and managerial competencies needed to monitor the performance and evaluate the efficiency, effectiveness, relevance and sustainability of development programs and projects. Participants will learn to use various management tools and techniques for effective project monitoring, control and reporting. They will also learn how to design, manage and conduct project evaluations. Participants will learn program and project management tools such as logical framework and defining and operationalizing program and project indicators (input, output, outcome and impact indicators).

3. Course Outcomes
At the end of this short course, participants will be able to:
• Participants will understand the concept and how to develop and operationalize log frames, M&E plans, Theory of Change and evaluation techniques;
• Clarify key results at the program level using logic models;
• Plan a project using the logical framework
• Develop good indicators and set appropriate targets
• Establish a baseline to assess project’s outcome &/or impact
• Combine qualitative and quantitative approaches to gather data, analyze and interpret
• Able to use M&E findings to stimulate learning, make improvement and stakeholder buy-in.

4. Requirements
• No prior experience required
• A minimum of bachelor degree
• Come with a laptop
• Understanding of English as a language of instruction during the training workshop

Monitoring and evaluation specialists;
• Project coordinators; Planners, Program and project officers
• Program managers;
• Independent evaluators;
• Consultants, donor staff appraising and evaluating projects and programs;
• Non-governmental organization officials are involved in monitoring and evaluating.

5. Training fees:
Professionals and private individuals: 100,000 RWF per person
University students: 50% discount per person (upon provision of student ID)

6. Certificate:
CDP will issue completion certificates to participants who will successfully attend the course and pass the course test.
NB: At the end of the course, the trainer will deliver a test, and ONLY participants who will get at least 60% will get the certificates. Others will be advised to wait until another training opportunity for the same course becomes available which they will attend free of charge (this chance is provided only once).
