Background Information
Ngali Mining Ltd (NML) is a Private Company registered in November 2015 under the Rwandan law, fully owned by NGALI Holdings Ltd. The company was established to undertake the exploration, extraction/exploitation and commercialization of strategic mineral resources that can be found underneath the territory of Rwanda. Later on, the exploration of petroleum and gas in lake Kivu was introduced on its portfolio. Now NML specializes in minerals, petroleum and gas exploration with an objective of extraction, processing and commercialization of extractive products that provide the founding pillars to revolutionize the attractiveness of sector potential and projecting its ultimate contribution to the development of the country. It owns different concessions/licenses for exploration and mining of gold and gemstones (amethyst, sapphire etc…)
In a bid to do value addition to our products before export and also promoting made in Rwanda program, we are setting up a workshop for jewellery locally and we are looking for gemstone experts to accelerate this local manufacturing workshop.

The Consultant Is Expected To Do The Following:
TORs for the consultant to start and manage a Gemstone Cutting, Polishing and jewelry making business.
• Jewelers and precious stone and metal workers design, construct, adjust, repair, appraise and sell jewelry.
• Design and create jewelry from precious metals and gemstones
• Examine and grade all gems that Ngali Mining Ltd is mining
• Supervise cutting/Clean and polish jewelry using available equipment and technician
• Repair jewelry by replacing broken clasps, altering ring sizes, or resetting stones per client needs
• Coordinate Smooth modifications of gemstone’s joints and rough spots and polish smoothed areas
• Model new pieces with carved wax or computer-aided design, and then cast them in metal to yield jewelries
• Shape metal to hold the gems in pieces of jewelry
• Solder pieces together and insert stones
• To fill the existing skills, gap of NML lapidary trainees/Technicians on operating machines, carving, faceting and basic jewelry making using gemstones.
• To acquaint with different techniques on carving, faceting & jewelry making skills that enables to meet the demands for international and local quality product standards.
• To facilitate and participates in gemstones exploration, mining, selling & buying plus marketing and research.
• Gemstone processing and grading gemstones available

Experts Experience Required
• 1. Demonstrated extensive knowledge of the whole gemstone value chain and industry at least over 10 years is the key for this position. 20%
• Demonstrated knowledge of gemstone market 5%
• Communication and training skills 5%
• Relevant qualification in gemmology 5%
• Having worked as a stone cutter for jewellery and experience in using cutting and polishing skills 10%
• Having worked as a craftsman/woman in jewellery making industry 10%
• Letter of interest and availability specifying the available date to start and other details; 5%
• Three (3) most recent professional references (institution where you worked) 10%

Evaluation Criteria
The evaluation criteria of the candidate/consultant will be based on the information provided in the CV and the relevant documents submitted as evidence to support possession of above required criteria.
