JOB DETAILS:
UNICOOPAGI is a cooperative Union working in southern Province of Rwanda in Nyamagabe, Nyaruguru and Huye Districts with main Office in Nyamagabe. It has been created in 1991 to foster Community Development by empowering people to build a better and sustainable development and it has a legal personality with a registration number RCA/426/2012 delivered on 25/06/2012 renewed to RCA/0168/2019 delivered on 21/02/2019 by Rwanda cooperative agency/RCA. UNICOOPAGI has 2558 members (1112 men and 1446 women) grouped into 34 farmers’ Cooperatives. The members are growing different crops including Wheat, Maize, Beans, Irish potatoes, Vegetables, Nurseries, etc… The Union is composed of 34 Cooperatives operating in Nyamagabe, Nyaruguru and Huye Districts in the Southern Province. In Partnership with Vi-Agroforestry, UNICOOPAGI implements a Project entitled “Agroforestry for agriculture Production and Economic Empowerment” in Nyamagabe District. VIAGROFORESTRY is an international non-government organization from Swedish government operating in Rwanda in order to support smallholder farmers to foster their development and improve their livelihoods through promotion of Agroforestry and encourage farm enterprise development activities with the purpose of increasing household’s income level. .
Project activities implementation and responsibilities
• Implement daily project activities;
• Organize field activities with Project Coordinator;
• Plan, implement and monitor activities under the project in line with the established work plan, targets, and available budget;
• Act as a focal person for the partner on the field;
• Provide guidance and capacity building to the Participants;
• Monitoring nurseries establishment, trees planting progress and sustainability;
• Collect data for reports.
• Train farmers and Prepare training and activity reports
• Being able to work accordingly to meet deadlines
Qualifications and Experiences:
• Be a Rwandan by Nationality;
• Hold A2 Certificate in Agronomy with experience of 3 years minimum.
• Experience in working with poor and vulnerable people in a rural area;
• Experience in interacting Local Authorities;
• Experience in working with small Scale Farmers;
• Should be able to speak and write English and Kinyarwanda; French is an added.
• Willing to train community facilitators (village level extension workers)
• Comfortably travel freely between the project areas
• Hold a Driving License of motorbike (Cat. A) is an added value;

• Teamwork Spirit;
• Knowledge of community mobilization and sensitization;
• Knowledge of poverty reduction strategies;
• Knowledge of Gender mainstreaming strategies.
• Knowledge of extension services
