JOB DETAILS:
Your challenge and responsibilities:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced professional chef to join Ntare Louisenlund School's culinary team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about preparing, providing nutritious and delicious meals from breakfast, lunch and dinner (local and international) for students and staff. As a professional chef, you will be responsible for menu planning, meal preparation, dining hall management, excellent customers care, supervising cooks and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the overall well-being and satisfaction of our school community through culinary excellence in a fast-paced environment.

Your Main Responsibilities
Menu Planning;
• Develop diverse and balanced menus that meet the nutritional needs of students and adhere to dietary guidelines.
• Incorporate seasonal ingredients and accommodate special dietary requirements as needed.
• Collaborate with school administrators, nutritionists, and stakeholders to create appealing menu options.
Meal Preparation;
• Prepare and cook meals from scratch using fresh, high-quality ingredients.
• Ensure proper portion control and presentation of dishes.
• Maintain consistency in taste, texture, and appearance of food items.
Dining hall Management;
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the school dining hall, including staff supervision, scheduling, and training.
• Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as necessary to maintain efficient dining hall operations.
• Implement and enforce food safety standards and sanitation practices to ensure a clean and hygienic environment.
Culinary Innovation;
• Stay updated on culinary trends, techniques, and best practices.
• Experiment with new recipes and culinary concepts to keep menus exciting and engaging.
• Solicit feedback from students and staff to continuously improve food quality and service.
Collaboration and Communication;
• Work closely with other members of the food service team to coordinate meal service and special events.
• Communicate effectively with the director of hospitality, school administration and students regarding menu changes, dietary concerns, and feedback mechanisms.
Compliance and Regulation;
• Ensure compliance with local and international health codes, food safety regulations, and school policies and not serving leftovers.
• Maintain accurate records of food purchases, inventory, and production for reporting purposes.
• Ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure environment while maintaining a high standard of quality.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Attention to detail and a passion for creating delicious and visually appealing dishes.
• Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
• A positive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow in the culinary field.

Your Profile
• Proven experience as a professional chef, preferably in a school or institutional setting.
• Culinary masters degree or equivalent certification from a recognized culinary hotels, resturants or institution with 5 years of working experience.
• Strong knowledge of nutrition, dietary requirements, and menu planning principles.
• Proficiency in cuisine techniques across various cuisines and dietary preferences.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire dining hall staff.
• Attention to detail and a passion for creating delicious and visually appealing dishes.
• Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and safety.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing menu needs, dietary restrictions, and scheduling demands.
• Current certification in food safety and sanitation
• Ability to pass a background check and meet other employment requirements as mandated by the school.
