Caritas Gikongoro is a service of Gikongoro Catholic Diocese created in 1993, with the vision to have a Society where human dignity and the integral development of all people are promoted according to the evangelical values, and its mission is to assist those in need to improve their socio-economic well-being.

Apart from those departments, Caritas Gikongoro collaborates with other diocesan services and commissions such as Economat Général, Representation of Catholic Schools and Justice and Peace Commission (CDJP), created by Gikongoro Catholic Diocese to pertain the World of peace, Unity and Reconciliation through different joined interventions. Gikongoro Catholic Diocese covers the Districts of Nyamagabe and a big part of Nyaruguru plus a portion of Nyanza and Huye in southern province and Karongi in Western province.

Project context
Since March 2017 in partnership with Trocaire, Caritas Gikongoro is implementing in Nyanza and Nyaruguru Districts a six years project aiming at contributing to the resilient and sustainable food security of poor rural farmers with focus on women by supporting them in effective management and sustainable use of natural resources of water and land in agricultural production and diversification of income generating opportunities.
To date, the project carried out different activities such as installation of water tanks for agricultural use, promotion of vegetables production through kitchen garden and other drought tolerant crops, promotion of efficient cooking stoves, distribution of livestock to the vulnerable beneficiaries, trainings to the targeted communities on climate change and accompaniment in the development and implementation of the community action plan for climate change adaptation and mitigation such as establishment of tree nurseries for agroforestry trees, use of efficient cooking stoves, compost making and support the project beneficiaries in the formation and management of Voluntary Saving and Loan groups ( VSLs).
In this context, Caritas Gikongoro is supporting 124 targeted households (50 in Kivu and Ruramba sectors of Nyaruguru district and 74 in Nyagisozi sector of Nyanza district), with polyethylene water tanks of the capacity of five thousand litters (5,000L), for collection and storage of roof rain water for agriculture production.

Objective of the tender
The objective of this tender is to look for a competent company/ technician in installation of water tanks to install 124 polyethylene water tanks to 124 households’ beneficiaries - 50 in Nyaruguru and 74 in Nyaruguru districts.

Responsibilities of the hired company /technician
• To install 124 polyethylene water tanks with capacity of 5 m3 each to 124 beneficiaries ‘households to enable them to collect and store roof rain water for agricultural use;
• To construct a solid base of the 60cm of height and 2,20m of diameter using appropriate materials (stones, gravel and cement);
• To put gutters on both size of the house using iron sheet (Dumzas) to be able to collect all the rain water from the roof of the houses. The gutters should be fixed with nails and wires. The average size of beneficiary’s houses is 7mx6m;
• To fix pipes of 90 mm of diameter and plastic of PN 6 of strength;
• Taps should be of the size 3/4, type Sanya (no.1or bosny).

Responsibilities of Caritas Gikongoro
• To prepare and sign contract with the winner technician/ company;
• Caritas Gikongoro will monitor the installation process of water tank to ensure the tanks are in good condition and installed appropriately with agreed materials with the technician;
• To do bidder analyses and notification to the winner technician.
• The polyethylene water tanks will be bought and delivered by Trocaire up the site of installation.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply to this tender, the bidder must fulfill the following conditions:
• The company/technician shall be established and operational in Rwanda with proven experience in rain water harvesting and storage processes;
• The company/technician shall have a good record in installation of different types of water tanks especially plastic tanks.

Application documents
The interested and eligible technicians/ companies should submit the application documents comprising of the following:
• Letter of expression of interest to carry out the work addressed to the Director of Caritas Gikongoro;
• A quotation based on clear work breakdown structure. Quotation must include all taxes and presented in local currency (Rwandan Francs);
• Registration Certificate from RDB;
• Clearance Certificate from RRA and RSSB;
• Registered in VAT and provide EBM receipt;
• Proven experience in the similar work with at least 3 completion work certificates;
• To prove not to be on the black list companies of RPPA.
