Product Designer II

Irembo is a startup company in the gov-tech and fin-tech space that designs and develops digital products. Irembo has 5 years of experience creating Irembo’s pioneer product, the online platform irembo.gov.rw which helps Rwandan citizens and foreigners access over 100 public services.

It has enabled 15M+ transactions since its creation. We have ambitions and plans to scale our technology across Africa and enable more governments and enterprises to serve their users better.

As a product designer, you will rely on user-centered design principles to delight our users with great-looking experiences (mobile, web) that inspire trust and are "a joy to use". The role demands excellent execution, bold innovation, obsession with quality, solving problems with creativity, and a strong ambition to bring ideas into the hands of our users.

What you will do:
• Oversee the user experience of new features/products from conception to launch in partnership with product managers, content strategists, and engineers.
• Design and prototype elegant solutions for our mobile and web experiences.
• Consistently deliver UIs that are "a joy to use".
• Craft designs within existing visual systems/standards and collaborate with other designers to maintain design consistency and coherence across the features of our products.
• Evangelize best UI practices to other designers, engineers, and product managers.
• Continuously improve our products: identify users’ needs/challenges/blockers, sketch solutions, build prototypes, test ideas and refine designs with data and user feedback.
• Present design concepts to both internal and external stakeholders. You will be a good fit if:

• You are familiar with usability heuristics for user interface design and have demonstrated experience applying them in real-life products.
• You have experience working with design systems.
• You have 2+ years of experience designing user experiences for mobile and web
• You have a great ability to collaborate on design projects and integrate feedback.
• You have demonstrated visual design skills with proficiency in typography, desktop/mobile UI, color, layout, iconography, and aesthetic sense.
• You are highly skilled with design tools (Figma/Sketch/Adobe XD, Photoshop, Illustrator...).
• You are constantly informed on design trends.
• You have good communication skills and can effectively communicate your ideas to your stakeholders.
• You are a highly motivated self-starter with a can-do attitude and a track record of “figuring it out”.
• You have a get-it-done mindset: you can roll your sleeves up and do what needs doing to get things done.
