JOB DETAILS:
Community Health Boosters (CHB) is a pioneering youth-led organization dedicated to creating digital health technologies and youth-friendly learning tools that empower young individuals, amplify their voices, and enhance their opportunities. Founded in 2019 at the University of Rwanda, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, CHB collaborates with young people to co-create inclusive digital solutions, low-tech games, magazines, and services that enrich their lives. Our Human-Centered Design approach fosters an environment where the ideas of young people can flourish into reality – where informed young people actively address issues affecting their lives.
CHB's mission is to promote and enrich the holistic well-being of young people through youth-friendly means. We advocate for youth-friendly services and strive to improve access to information that aids in informed decision-making and adopting healthier behaviors. Towards furthering this cause, CHB looks to develop the hotline to complement its existing digital health platforms.

Overview of YAhealth App Redesign and Hotline
Since 2023, CHB has partnered with UNICEF and Rwanda Biomedical Center to elevate the YAhealth App further. This collaborative effort aims to significantly improve the accessibility and quality of health information, with a particular emphasis on user-friendliness, age-appropriate content, robust data collection, and effective social behavior change campaigns. In its initial phase, the partnership is dedicated to elevating the app and enhancing its scalability for the future.
During the final stages of redesigning the mobile and web applications, incorporating feedback from both young people and partners gathered through co-design sessions, it became evident that there was a crucial need for a hotline. This hotline would cater to individuals without smart devices, ensuring they too could access health information in a user-friendly manner.
Motivated by this insight, CHB, with support from UNICEF, is undertaking the development of a YAhealth hotline version. The aim is to provide accurate and reliable health information to everyone, especially those who may not otherwise have access to it. The primary focus of this hotline will be to generate demand for HPV vaccine uptake among adolescent girls aged 12 years, while also promoting routine immunization for young mothers and ensuring children are fully vaccinated. This will be achieved through extensive awareness campaigns through hotline and SMS and by ensuring that information is accessible to all in a youth-friendly format.

Job Summary:
CHB is seeking a consultant to develop the YAhealth hotline/toll-free version. YAhealth is a digital health platform aimed at improving young people's access to health information and services. The hotline will feature pre-recorded messages on various health topics, especially Immunization-related information, and provide users with the option to connect to different experts via call freely. The hotline aims to reach vulnerable populations, who would not otherwise have access to the information including those with low digital literacy, and will operate on both telecom networks

Requirements: The consultant should possess the following qualifications:
• Academic potential, with a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information technology, or a related field preferred.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing hotline/toll-free systems, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

• Knowledge of user experience design principles, particularly for vulnerable populations, and familiarity with accessibility standards.
• Technical proficiency in telecom network integration, including knowledge of VoIP technology and protocols.
• Experience in SMS integration for reminder services, with proficiency in SMS gateway APIs and platforms.
• Demonstrate experience of having undertaken similar consultancy.
• Written reference and contacts of at least three organizations previously worked for the development of technological-based projects
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
• Proficiency in additional languages beneficial, particularly Kinyarwanda
Timeline: The project is expected to commence on June 10, 2024, and be completed by July 25, 2024.
