Introduction

CLADHO is an Umbrella of Human Rights Organizations established and operating in Rwanda with the overall goal of defending, protecting, and promoting human rights and social justice in Rwanda.
CLADHO seeks to protect and defend human rights in general and to promote the open informed debates on key policy issues in particular and then propose feasible policy alternatives in different thematic rights areas, including child rights.

One of CLADHO’s objectives is to ensure that all children fully enjoy their rights as defined by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of Child, and Rwanda Integrated Child Rights Policy. Since its creation in 1993, CLADHO has provided a coordinated platform for Human rights organizations actions and played a central role in key child rights developments at National level including supporting its members in the elaboration and implementation of child protection policies.
CLADHO considers child rights programming as paramount and in its work children are given the opportunity to share their own views, experiences, and perspectives on their rights and ensure that children are involved in designing and delivering activities; are involved in decision-making with regard to the extent of their participation.

To achieve her mission, CLADHO signed funding agreement with UNICEF to implement the program entitled “Strengthening Children And Adolescent Participation In Decision Making And Uptake Of Social Services In Rwanda” with the overall aim to strengthen the operationalization of children forum committees and influencing uptake of quality social services for adolescent girls through participatory approach at local levels.
It is in this regard that CLADHO is looking for 1 suitable candidate to fill the position of Behavior Change Officer to be based in Kigali but with frequent travels to Western Province (Rubavu, Karongi, Rusizi), City of Kigali (Kicukiro, Gasabo), Northern Province (Rulindo, Musanze), Eastern Province (Rwamagana, Bugesera, and Kirehe), Southern Province (Huye, Gisagara, Kamonyi).

Job Details
Position Name: Behavior Change Officer
Reporting Relationship: the position reports to the Programs Manager of CLADHO who is also the program focal point.
Role: The Behavior Change officer will provide advice, support, and resources to children and adolescents to help them solve their problems including influencing uptake of quality social services in education, child protection health (HIV prevention and treatment).

Job Responsibilities
Under direct supervision of the Programs Manager and in collaboration with other program team, the officer will:
• Ensure SBC interventions are gender-responsive and on-track as per the agreed project document and work plan.
• Lead interventions designed to promote quality social services in Education, child protection, and health (HIV prevention and treatment) in a gender-responsive manner.
• Network with relevant CSO’s and other stakeholders for effective referrals and collaborations on deserving cases.
• Provide psychosocial support to children and adolescents.
• Coordinate mentorship activities including supervising mentors.
• Work with program beneficiaries including community-based child protection structures other relevant actors for effective child and adolescent participation.
• Develop gender responsive work-plans ,
• Conduct supportive supervision, working closely with M&E specialist to document best practices and success stories

Desired Qualifications, experience, and skills
• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences/Sociology/psycho-social studies/Public health,
• Knowledge and expertise in psychology and social work matters,
• Knowledge and expertise in participatory approaches including child and adolescents centered approaches,
• Must have at least 3 years working experience in social work and psychology fields,
• Must have at least 2 years working experience with Civil Society Organizations,
• Must have proven experience in networking, lobbying, and advocacy,
• Poses counselling skills,
• Have computer literacy skills especially MS,
• Facilitation/training skills,
• Documentation and reporting skills

Technical skills
• Having a basic understanding of the project management cycle,
• Experience working on behavior change/gender related projects.
• Fluent communication (verbal & written) skills in English and Kinyarwanda, required
• Ability to examine and articulate information
• Having a successful record of working with local authorities and community groups in a multi-stakeholder environment,
• Strong report writing skills,
• Able to think creatively and to innovate,
• Able to share learnings, experience, and best practices,
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Excel and Word is absolutely essential,
• Good planning, organizing, and problem-solving skills,
• Demonstrated self-awareness, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
NB: The contract will be for 1-year renewable
