JOB DETAILS:

easyHATCH Ltd is offering a prime role for energetic, dynamic person to join our team. The successful candidate will need to approach their job with zeal, integrity and utmost honesty. You will be required to tend to one day old chicks, egg incubation, cleaning and general upkeep of the hatchery and all other tasks necessary to keep the hatchery operating smoothly. You will also be required to perform farm visits to provide training and support to farmers. You will handle all issues that farmers face in raising their chicks and provide the necessary guidance timeously. You may also be required to perform duties at our breeder farm as directed by the Breeder Manager. Prior knowledge of poultry day old chicks will be advantageous. You will attend to any duties as directed by the Supervisor. easyHATCH will provide you with all the necessary basic training specific to our operations and all necessary support you may require in carrying out your duties. This is a hands-on job and you must be comfortable with handling animals, performing egg breakout analysis and performing autopsy. This is a non-negotiable job requirement .

Responsibilities/Duties
• Incubating eggs and performing egg break-out analysis
• Monitoring incubation machines
• Performing vaccinations of day old chicks
• Handling, loading, unloading and transporting chickens
• Feeding and monitoring the health and welfare of chickens
• Carrying out feeding and breeding programs
• Cleaning out the hatchery and general maintenance
• Sexing chicks, separating the males form the females
• Operating hatchery/farm machinery and vehicles
• Carrying out routine maintenance of equipment and machinery.
• Visiting farmers to provide veterinary support
• Conducting training for smallholder farmers
• Assists in the detection, control, prevention and eradication of poultry diseases.
• Under the general supervision of the Director or his designate, the incumbent will be expected to assume some independent responsibility for one or more of the functional areas.
• Conducts field investigations of economically significant animal disease problems and acts as a consultant for livestock producers, veterinary practitioners, animal scientists, nutritionists, etc.
• Participates in the laboratory investigation of economically significant animal diseases.
• Performs activities directed towards the detection, control, prevention and eradication of animal diseases.
• Performs necropsy and histopathologic examinations, orders appropriate additional laboratory tests and interprets resulting data.
• Plans, organizes and leads laboratory investigations of animal diseases.
• Prepares and conducts extension education programs for livestock producers, producer groups and veterinary practitioners.
• Participates in the training of technical and support staff and of junior colleagues.
• Carries out any task as directed by the Supervisor/Manager.


Qualifications
• Must have good communication skills (Kinyarwanda, Kiswahili, English, French). • A degree in Veterinary Medicine. • Good computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel). • A licence to practice veterinary medicine in Rwanda
