Project background
Women for Women Rwanda (WfW-Rwanda) is a nonprofit national NGO legally established in July 2020. The organization is taking the mantle of by WfWI, an International NGOS that has operated in Rwanda to serve the most vulnerable women affected by the Rwandan Genocide of 1994. The prolonged period of peace and development in Rwanda has paved the way for the establishment of a new national organization, Women for Women Rwanda, as Women for Women International shifts its focus to serve in other conflict-affected countries. WfW-Rwanda builds alliances with communities and institutions to help design and deliver innovative programs that address inevitable challenges faced by women within our communities.

WfW- International and WfW-Rwanda in supports WfW’s mission of building individual women’s social and economic power and influencing the enabling environment for women’s entrepreneurship, with aim to build their business and communication skills, confidence, and business network to pitch business ideas to potential investors, negotiate contracts with potential buyers, and influence investors and decision makers.

To better implement the above project, WfW-Rwanda is recruiting an Entrepreneurship Development and Market linkage Consultant to work for the Enabling Environments for Successful Female Entrepreneurship in Rwanda (EESFER) Project to support 1440 women micro-entrepreneurs in the 7 districts (Kayonza, Rwamagana, Gasabo, Kicukiro, Bugesera, Muhanga and Nyaruguru) to achieve the below project’s objectives.

Overall project’s objectives
• To build women micro-entrepreneur’s business and communication skills in Rwanda
• To facilitate connections between women micro entrepreneurs and new markets
• To enable 1,440 women micro entrepreneurs to access new sources of private and business investments
• To allow 160 women micro entrepreneurs to gain skills to pitch their business ideas and training to 240 underprivileged entrepreneurs, students, and professionals
• To set up financial fairs in which women micro-entrepreneurs access new potential sources of private and public business investment.

Duration of consultancy
The consultancy is for 6 months (Sept 2021-March 2022), but the project’s tasks will be implemented into two phases (three months for each phase) after assessment on the consultant’s performance based on set key deliverables.

Expected deliverables
• Work closely with PSF and identify key stake holders, institutions and SMEs to work within the country to help achieve the project’s goals
• In collaboration with PSF facilitate the identification of trainers with expertise in business leadership, negotiation, marketing communication, pitching and influencing and ensure the trainings are well conducted
• Ensure the identification of both internal and external markets and initiate MoUs with the potential partner companies ones
• Link women micro-entrepreneurs to join potential platforms and facilitate them practicing effective communication, including public speaking and social media usage.
• Train women micro -entrepreneurs in business leadership, negotiation and influencing
• Train women micro -entrepreneurs in effective communication, including public speaking and social media usage
• Conduct a practical exercise on good agricultural practices and quality standards and requirements for exportation
• Coordinate and deliver networking events with potential buyers and organize finance fairs to link micro-entrepreneurs and service providers
• Organize a mentorship programme to connect women micro -entrepreneurs with established and successful entrepreneurs to share experiences and guidance
• Ensure strong coordination skills and be able to work with Economic Empowerment program team to ensure successful project’s implementation
• Having good reporting skills and experience in recording impact stories among project’s beneficiaries
• Develop the pre-test and post-test tools after/before each training in collaboration with PM&E department
• Develop detailed post training analysis report after the training in support of PM&E department

Reporting line
• The consultant will be reporting to the Head of Economic Empowerment Department

Job profile
Women for women is seeking for a highly qualified consultant with experience in entrepreneurship development and market linkage with high level networking skills especially in agriculture value chain.

• The applicant must have at least 5 years of experience in similar domain and should have a mastery of the Rwandan context and working with women cooperatives mostly involved in agri-business as well as networking with the private sector federation of Rwanda (PSF), and other strong institutions in the country such as NCCR, RCA, NAEB and some strong fresh product’s exporter companies in the country.
• Having at least a bachelor’s degree in economics, agri-business, entrepreneurship, project management or have bachelor’s degree in similar subjects
• Having a master’s degree is an asset
