JOB DESCRIPTION &PROFILE FOR SURVEYOR
Job Title: Surveyor
Department: Civil works: Head Office, City of Kigali/
Kicukiro- Masaka Reporting To: Head Of Surveying Unit Job Grade: H5

OVERALL, PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Surveyor will be responsible for conducting land surveys and preparing reports for various construction, engineering, and mapping projects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, excellent problemsolving abilities, and a passion for accuracy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Surveyor has to report to the Head Of Land Surveying Unit and is assigned the following duties and responsibilities:
• Conduct land surveys using various surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS, and levels.
• Analyze survey data, including measurements and calculations, to create accurate maps, drawings, and reports.
• Interpret legal documents, such as deeds and plats, to determine property boundaries and rights of way.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction teams to provide survey support and ensure project accuracy.
• Prepare survey reports, including descriptions of survey methods, findings, and recommendations.
• Maintain survey equipment in good working condition and calibrate as necessary.
• Adhere to safety standards and protocols while conducting surveys in the field.
• Keep abreast of advancements in surveying technology and techniques.
• Assist with other tasks and projects as needed.

QUALIFICATION AND DESIRED SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in surveying, or related field.
• Professional Surveyor license (PS) or ability to obtain licensure within [specify timeframe].
• Proven experience for 5 years as a surveyor, preferably in a construction or engineering environment.
• Proficiency with surveying software and equipment.
• Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical stamina to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
• Advanced knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or other drafting software.
• Experience with cadastral surveys and legal descriptions
