To position us as effectively as possible to achieve sustainable growth and build on recent success, we are recruiting for a Senior Development Consultant to support on market development of our programmes in either the UK or Sub-Saharan Africa.
Senior Development Consultants play a key role in helping us achieve our charitable mission to transform lives by improving education around the world. They are proactive in identifying and pursuing new business, are highly skilled in problem-solving and solution design and are adaptable to different contexts, clients and changing circumstances. They are outstanding communicators with excellent writing skills, able to engage and build rapport with clients, partners and other stakeholders in person and remotely. They live and breathe our core methods and contribute to continuously developing and improving them as we learn from our programmes and the wider evidence base.
As a Senior Development Consultant with a focus on business development, you will provide high-quality education solution design, bid writing and bid management for both technical consultancy and high-value business opportunities. You will be able to manage multi-disciplinary teams to deliver compelling proposals and other team projects. You will support the Regional Director to spot and nurture new opportunities, identifying how we can make an impact at scale in our areas of expertise, engaging clients and stakeholders in the process.
In this particular role, you will also use your education technical skills and experience to help play a delivery role in our UK programmes. This could include leading particular workstreams within a project related to teacher development or supporting coordination, management and stakeholder relationships for a project area.
We would welcome applications from candidates with significant experience in education management or consultancy with a track record of designing education projects (preferably large-scale), programmes or services and securing funding from clients. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience at all stages of the business development cycle, from market analysis through to pre-procurement and positioning, proposal development and mobilisation. They will also have strong technical knowledge of education programming and excellent personal networks at all levels in either the UK (and particularly English) education system or in African markets.
Job location
The Senior Development Consultant with a focus on the UK market will be based in the UK. Our UK head office is in Reading, but the role can be predominantly home-based.
The Senior Development Consultant with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa can either be based in the UK or in Kenya (Nairobi).
