JOB DETAILS:
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and local regulations.
• Ensure accurate and timely submission of all financial reports to stakeholders, including management and external auditors.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
• Lead the budgeting process by coordinating with various departments to forecast revenues and expenditures.
• Monitor budget performance, analyzing variances, and providing recommendations for adjustments.
General Ledger Management:
- Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring accuracy in all financial entries.
- Conduct regular account reconciliations, including cash, receivables, and payables.
Tax Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with Rwandan tax laws, including VAT, PAYE, and corporate income taxes.
- Prepare and file tax returns accurately and on time, liaising with tax authorities as needed.
Audit and Internal Controls:
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explaining financial transactions.
- Develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure data integrity.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely collections and payments.
- Work closely with vendors and clients to resolve billing and payment issues.
Payroll Management:
- Oversee payroll calculations, ensuring accurate salary disbursements and compliance with labor laws.
- Manage employee benefits and deductions in accordance with company policies.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or ACCA qualification preferred.
Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 5 years in a senior role.
- Experience in the Rwandan financial sector and familiarity with local regulations is highly preferred.
- Fluent in English – speaking, writing, reading
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and Rwandan tax regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across departments.
Work Conditions: This position is based in Kibuye, with standard office hours, including Saturdays. The role may require occasional travel within Rwanda for audit or compliance purposes. The Senior Accountant must be detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to maintaining financial integrity and transparency.
*The candidate will undergo a training course in the company’s accounting software “Priority”.
