JOB DETAILS:
Position: Part-time Fundraising Officer
Expected start date: July 1, 2020
Hours: Approx. 20-25 hours per week
Type of contract: Part-time contractor / consultant (non-staff position)
Length of contract: 12 months, inclusive of the initial probationary period
Summary of the role:
To work closely with PCR’s Director in identifying relevant donors and funding opportunities, writing proposals, and mobilizing resources for long-term organizational impact and sustainability. .
Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Compile and maintain a database of international and local donor organizations (international foundations, bilateral and multilateral agencies and private corporations offering donations)
• Regularly monitor donor websites and identify donor opportunities aligned with the work of the organization
• Write concept notes and project proposals in English, and ensure their timely submission
• Undertake independent research in finding alternative resources for the long-term sustainability of the organization, including private/individual donors, crowdfunding, etc.
• Build contacts with potential individual donors to raise funds for the activities of the organization
• Maintain relationships with existing donors and potential project partners, and keep them updated on the work of the organization
• Develop a PCR newsletter to disseminate to donors and partners on a quarterly basis
• Improve and develop fundraising communications materials for the organization such as brochures, case statements, social media content, etc.
• Organize or provide assistance in organizing any fundraising events for the organization
• Suggest other innovative ideas for effective resource mobilization

Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in development studies or any other related field
• Minimum 2 years of experience in grant writing with a successful track record for securing significant funding commitments from donors
• Proven experience with writing quality proposals for local and international donors and an understanding of technical and financial requirements for grant proposals
• Fluency in English (both oral and written) and the ability to communicate professionally with partners and donors
• Excellent writing skills with the ability to tell compelling stories and leverage impact data for strong proposals
• Proficiency with computer applications for drafting proposals as well as publishing/designing fundraising communications materials (ex. Microsoft Office applications; Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
• Timeliness and professionalism are of extreme importance for this role
• Applicants must be registered to work in Rwanda with a valid TIN number
Compensation: Based on current market rates for Rwanda, and commensurate with experience. This role can be performed remotely in part and can be undertaken alongside other work assignments upon prior agreement with PCR.
