MFI Business Process Specialist

Description: The MFI business process specialist is responsible for leading support for improving business processes in HOPE’s network of microfinance institutions, with an emphasis on technology and systems solutions. This includes liaising between program management, the MFI department, and the technology department to identify and implement business improvements to make HOPE’s activities more efficient and impactful for HOPE’s clients. This role will analyze and communicate program needs, ensuring continual improvement in how systems serve stakeholders. He/she will support projects directed by strategic plans that may include identifying and clarifying business requirements, assisting with systems implementation, identifying novel solutions to business programs, and building program capacity.

Responsibilities:
• Promote and fulfill the mission and vision of HOPE International
• Promote best practices in business process improvement and create and implement a network-level strategy for helping HOPE’s MFIs become more efficient and effective in this area
• Analyze existing MFI business processes and identify areas for process improvement and increased efficiency, with an emphasis on systems solutions
• Support MFIs in developing strong business cases and prioritizing requests to the technology department, and work alongside the technology department to gather and evaluate system business requests and requirements from MFIs
• Support the implementation of systems within the African MFI region, including liaising between MFI management and the technology department as needed, with an emphasis on supporting end-user adoption and assessment of the long-term impact of systems projects
• In coordination with the technology department, develop technology roadmaps for MFIs in the HOPE network, including initiatives related to operational improvements, feature releases, and digitization
• Stay abreast of industry trends and developments and make recommendations for continual improvement of the design and implementation of MFI business processes and systems
• Build capacity of local teams in the Africa region, including leading trainings and providing ongoing coaching for staff in the areas of systems and applications
• In coordination with other departments, ensure integrity of, and improvements to, our data environments and systems of record

Qualifications:
• Personal confession of Christian faith and commitment to the mission and vision of HOPE International
• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, business, finance, economics, or equivalent
• 5+ years of relevant work experience, particularly in the areas financial services industry and systems/technology. Experience with microfinance strongly preferred
• Self-motivated organizational skills, including effective time management and prioritization of multiple deadlines
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with employees across the organization, locally and remotely, across cultures, and with external stakeholders
• Strong analytical skills and high level of attention to detail
• Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills, especially in Excel and Power BI. Exposure to core banking systems and financial service systems, a plus
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 75 days per year
• Fluency in French, Kinyarwanda, or other working language in HOPE Network, a plus
