Purpose of the Position
The Office of Student Recruitment is a pivotal Office within the United Scholars Center because of its unique position in driving revenue, in securing quality candidates and promoting USC’s unique product offering and student experience.
The Director International requires demonstrated experience in international education markets, knowledge of the higher education sector in EAC AND CENTRAL AFRICA and overseas, the experience of working in large complex organizations, sound financial management, and marketing operations abilities and a collaborative approach to dealing with staff and colleagues. The Director will have high-level judgment and problem-solving acumen and be an ambassador for USC. The International Recruitment Director will contribute to the development of strategy and will be responsible for the development and implementation of the center’s plans to attract high-quality international applicants to institution partners..

  Job Responsibilities:
The purpose of this position is to lead and motivate a team of recruiting professionals to:
• To work on behalf of CEO and assume its responsibilities in the case of his absence
• Manage and coordinate staff at HQ and sub-agencies
• Recruit high-quality international students to USC courses provided by institutions partner
• Liaise with center’s marketing staff, government agencies, international agents and other stakeholders to optimize recruitment performance within the designated international markets
• Create and maintain excellent stakeholder internal and external institutional relationships that will help drive and support sustainable growth
• Raise brand awareness and direct customer preference across a range of countries and regions.
• Manage and develop staff to ensure they are adequately skilled and motivated to deliver a high-level service
It is an expectation that the incumbent will run the International Recruitment department as a commercially sound operation and have the requisite skills to develop and analyze market intelligence, setting of strategies for the development and growth of the business, strategic partnerships, international student recruitment and research opportunities for the Center.
Regular overseas travel will be required.
Reporting Relationship:
• The Director International reports to the Chief Executive Officer, S/he will play a key role contributing to strategic planning and business development to support the center’s internationalization goals as well as contributing to building USC reputation globally.
• Provide high-level advice to the CEO, on matters relating to student recruitment including trends, market forecasts, and potential challenges in a market facing the center.
• The position will also advise, collaborate and liaise with the Senior Management Team.
• The position will forge strong links and interact with the Country Office Manager’s, the agencies, Marketing Managers, Independent referee Agencies, and the Admissions Team leaders group. The Director will be responsible for the strategic and operational priorities in recruiting students to center’s institution partners.

• Sales management and experience in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) programs and/or similar technologies for business development
• Demonstrated ability to establish credibility, gain confidence and maintain rapport with the staff at all levels and a personal commitment to work within a strong service focused environment.
• Ability to adapt to, and to be a catalyst for change; and a capacity to work in a complex and fluid organizational environment.

  Job Education Requirements:
• A University degree, preferably inclusive of postgraduate studies in business, communications, marketing or a related field.


Knowledge and Experience
• Significant experience in sales, business development, and marketing as well as the development and implementation of business plans to support international student recruitment.
• Substantial experience across the range of recruitment functions at a senior level, and demonstrated capacity as a ‘hands-on’ practitioner in a consultative, service delivery model.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the regional higher education systems as well as an excellent understanding of the current issues and trends within international education and the challenges facing universities internationally.
• Substantial experience working in student recruitment across a range of countries.
• Experience operating in Rwanda and the sub-continent will be highly regarded.
• Judgment/decision making/problem solving
• On an ongoing basis, the incumbent is required to review, motivate and driv e the team to success, while maintaining a positive, enjoyable working environment.
