Essential Job Role and Responsibilities
Evidence
The Evidence and Advocacy Manager is responsible for designing, analyzing, and coordinating Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) that helps UCP and its stakeholders to (1) advance the field of integrated Community-based Social Healing and (2) develop/support an advocacy agenda. Specific tasks include:
• Provide input in the design and execute systems for monitoring and tracking program quality and performance. Many systems are already in place and require review and strengthening.
• Consolidate all collected data, manage/analyze them, and provide analytical visual data and dashboards monthly to inform program improvement and management team decision making.
• Participate in developing the research and learning agenda, including needs assessments, thematic research pieces, and internal use of data and information in programs
• Lead on writing, editing and quality controls for research/evaluation reports and presentations
• Communicating the results of research or project evaluation results to internal and external constituents through a variety of avenues (research reports, convenings, training, conference presentations, web resources, social media, etc.).
Advocacy
In coordination with the Ubuntu Center for Peace’s Executive Director, the Evidence and Advocacy Manager is responsible for managing the UCP’s advocacy programs and communications. Responsibilities include:
• Conduct and regularly update a stakeholders’ mapping and analysis and propose appropriate forms of engaging with them.
• Develop a stakeholders engagement or communication plan to achieve their support for the UCP’s programs including the community-based social healing
• Work closely with the UCP Executive Director to build and maintain strategic partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders, including in-person meetings, updating database information, appointment scheduling, written correspondence, etc
• Document and analyze existing policies on trauma healing and propose issue-oriented advocacy content for communication vehicles such as emails, websites, social media, etc.
• Together with the Executive Director and Grants and Development Manager, host key and strategic stakeholders’ events, for engagement and/or fundraising.
• Prepare reports on the program progress for the ED, Advocacy Committee, and UCP Board of Directors, and others.
• Work with the Executive Director on major funder proposals and reports for evidence and advocacy efforts. Assist with special projects, provide support to all UCP activities, and perform other duties as needed.
• Represent the UCP in strategic meetings with different partners including the government, funding agencies and other partners.
• This position reports to the Executive Director.

Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate for this role has a blend of education and experience as follows:
• Bachelor’s Degree plus at least five years of related experience preferred. Master’s Degree ideal.
• Understanding of quantitative and qualitative methodologies as well as summative and formative research models
• Strong written and oral communication skills: prior demonstrated research and report generation from which action, policy or system change was an outcome; comfortable with public speaking and meeting facilitation; and ability to write impeccably in a variety of styles.
• Excellent administrative and project management skills, particularly in an environment with competing demands and overlapping projects: the ability to work independently, take initiative, establish and accomplish priorities when faced with multiple tasks, work with and without deadlines, pay close attention to details and logistics.
• Interpersonal skills: the ability to work effectively with a wide array of constituencies and personalities, commitment and flexibility at all times.
• Advanced computer skills - MS Office, as well as common web 2.0 tools, basic graphic design sense helpful.
• Fluency in English, Kinyarwanda, and French required
• Strong work ethic and work history that would evidence a commitment to UCP’s mission. A genuine passion for social healing and social justice.
