Communications and Digital Knowledge Management Specialist .

Primary Responsibilities:
The Communications and Digital Knowledge Management Specialist reports to the Communications Manager.
• He/She will work closely with the Communications Manager to implement the communications strategy and ensure that all communications materials are donor compliant. The following are the Communications and Digital Knowledge Management Specialist’s primary responsibilities:
• Collaborate closely with Communications Manager to ensure that all components of communications strategy are well implemented, including overseeing elements of the strategy as the Specialist’s skill set develops
• Design and implement targeted communications plans for reaching key people (i.e. government officials) as well as for reaching key audiences (youth, private sector, etc.) which may involve a variety of communications mediums such as social media, digital articles, media, etc. in collaboration with Communications Manager
• Support Communications Manager to compile, prepare and edit donor reports
• Oversee Nguriza Nshore’s digital presence and public perception including managing the development of remaining pages of Nguriza Nshore website and producing regular website content such as blogs
• Manage security of website, social media accounts and a digital portal to support data security of the project
• Regularly conduct research including weekly media roundups to understand emerging trends in the communications sector in Rwanda as well as in the financial services and entrepreneurial ecosystems to better inform the project’s efforts of reaching key stakeholders and enhancing cross-functional sharing and communication
• Conduct regular meetings to share new trends, information, and insights gained from research with the project team
• Develop highly visible digital/social media campaigns such as strategically identifying possible series or campaigns to increase audience engagement and create greater visibility
• Manage Activity-specific social media accounts, ensuring regular engagement and content
• Provide support to government and private sector partners on demand-driven communications needs as well as SME partners on marketing needs as part of Nguriza Nshore investment readiness support including providing design support in collaboration with Communications Manager
• Oversee development of a digital portal to track policy development and changes
• Support in managing all project events and trips, assisting to coordinate all logistics, and ensuring that everything runs smoothly (including with internal and external actors) to create a good name for the project and ensure project visibility
• Regularly capture success stories, project statistics, data, news, updates, pictures, etc. in close collaboration with Communications Manager that can be used in reports and on social media
• Manage and regularly update a “media bank” of project activity photos, videos, and texts;
• Develop in-depth content about project to use on website blogs, on LinkedIn articles, e-newsletters, etc. in collaboration with Communications Manager
• Design top quality Nguriza Nshore materials such as a brochure, general project info sheet, data visualizations, and other general communications items, as outlined in the strategy, gradually taking on more design responsibilities as the Specialist’s skillset develops
• Ensure Nguriza Nshore’s strong relationship with the media and help elevate Nguriza Nshore’s presence in Rwanda
• Provide regular updates on Nguriza Nshore’s progress to relevant stakeholders including through writing weekly project bullets
• Master Feed the Future and USAID branding and work closely with Communications Manager to ensure compliance with Feed the Future and USAID branding and marking guidelines for all communications products including donor reports and project materials
• Supervise communications interns on the project and build supervisory skills
Learning objectives for this position:
• Master both USAID and Feed the Future branding and marking rules and regulations;
• Become competent in donor reporting requirements and format;
• Become an expert in desktop publishing software such as Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator and in creating design work that matches the project, DAI, and donor standards;
• Build expertise in communications and marketing support for SME partners in Rwanda;
• Build expertise in communications strategy, branding, and materials targeted at the international investor audience to promote investment in Rwanda;
• Build expertise in managing various competing demands and requests from different stakeholders (donor, internal project needs, partner institutions and firms, government partners, etc.) and overseeing all communications on project
• Improve professional written and public speaking English level;

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in communications or related digital management field;
• At least 5 years of experience in project support communications, digital or project management in Rwanda;
• Substantial experience on previous USAID-funded projects in Rwanda, submitting materials directly to USAID;
• At least 3 years of experience using Feed the Future or USAID branding and marking systems and policies;
• Portfolio of previous materials developed for USAID-funded projects solely developed and written by the applicant;
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with experience communicating difficult and sensitive topics in a creative and easily accessible manner;
• Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital and social media in Rwanda, with 1-2 years’ experience managing social media channels, and ability to identify relevant emerging trends and information sharing mechanisms to inform social media strategies;
• Experience with event management;
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with institutional and private-sector partners and stakeholders;
• Experience using photo editing and desktop publishing software including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator with a portfolio of previously designed materials;
• Experience with website management and content development;
• English and Kinyarwanda fluency.
