Association de la Jeunesse pour la Promotion des Droits de l’Homme et développement (AJPRODHO–JIJUKIRWA) is a non-governmental organization working to improve the rights of disadvantaged youth, women and children in Rwanda through Human Rights promotion and protection. AJPRODHO-JIJUKIRWA was founded in 1996 by students attending the National University of Rwanda. The organization was formed as a response to the Genocide against the Tutsi to protect future students from similar forms of manipulation. Since its founding, AJPRODHO has transitioned from a small student association to a nationally active non-governmental organization with programs in more than 17 districts spread over 4 provinces of Rwanda and Kigali city. The primary focus of the organization continues to be Human Rights promotion, protection, research, advocacy, economic empowerment and civil society strengthening.
TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR RECRUITMENT

The primary focus of the organization continues to be Human Rights promotion, protection, research, advocacy, economic empowerment and civil society strengthening.
AJPRODHO-JIJUKIRWA has received a funding from -DUTEZE IMBERE UBUTABERA (DIU) to implement a “Know Your Rights Campaign” project in the districts of Nyaruguru, Bugesera, Musanze, Gasabo and Nyamasheke. The Duteze Imbere Ubutabera (DIU) project is financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by DIU.
COMMUNICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OFFICER- Position
Job Title: Communication specialist and Documentation Officer.
Reports to: The Project Coordinator
Job Description
As Communication and Documentation Officer you will support the project’s aims and policy and advocacy goals by taking responsibility for devising and implementing an effective communication and documentation strategy. You will ensure communication planning is in line with our mission, values and strategy and that work meets policies and brand guidelines. Day-to-day you will draft project-relevant blogs, capitalise on opportunities for external media engagement and prepare case studies and media stories to illustrate the human face of the project. You will also monitor effectiveness and share learning to improve performance. In addition, you will help build the capacity of teams by providing technical training, coaching and support.:
Educated to degree level you must have experience of leading communications aimed at engaging the public and influencing decision makers. You will be skilled at writing effectively for a range of audiences and must have been involved in content production, use of social media and commissioning photography/video. Committed to promoting women’s rights and child rights you must also be able to operate across functions and have excellent communication, organizational and negotiation skills.
Qualification:
• The applicant must have a master’s degree in public relations, communications and, or journalism, international relations
• A Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years’ experience in the above field
Required Skills:
• Proficiency in English composition and knowledge of French is added advantage
• Skills in moderating, facilitating and event management
• Experience in human rights and access to justice awareness, advocacy and lobbying related work will be an added advantage
