Over the past 24years, the Government of Rwanda (GoR) has developed and implemented several initiatives commonly known as Home Grown Solutions (HGS), which have been key in addressing some of Rwanda’s major post genocide challenges. These initiatives are informed by Rwanda’s local, historical and cultural values and have been central in addressing social, political and economic challenges.
In that regard, Rwanda built and acquired knowledge, expertise and good practices in these areas. As a result, for the past several years, there is an increasing interest and demand from different countries & international organizations to learn from Rwanda’s experience and many African countries are also keen to share their own experience with Rwanda, in return learn from her social-economic development model.
Rwanda Cooperation Initiative was created as a “Single Window Access” for HGS services to insure effective management, prompt response of foreign requests, and institute a cost recovery mechanism.
RCI will provide the following service categories:
• Training & Study Visits
• Advisory services
• Special project implementation.
In order to deliver on its program strategy and accountabilities, RCI is looking for skilled and competent candidates to fill the positions stated in the table below.
Job Title: Communication Manager
Profile Job
Relevant Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Communication, Public Relations, Political Sciences, International Relations, Journalism or any other relevant qualifications & experience
Experience and Key Technical Skills & Knowledge required
• Five (5) years of working experience in Communication, Public Relations, Political Sciences, International Relations, Journalism for Bachelor’s Degree holders and three (3) years of working experience in the above mentioned fields for Master’s Degree holders.
• Must have excellent writing skills (press release, brochure, pamphlet,)
• Extensive knowledge on report writing and presentation skills
• Understands and applies fundamental concepts and principles of a professional discipline relating to investigating facts, gather and filter information, and deliver it to the public (audience)
• Ability to convey ideas in a clear and precise way
• Fluent in Kinyarwanda, English and French
Job Description
• Prepare RCI’s communication plan
• Preparing and sharing press statements and releases (when necessary)
• Maintain constant contacts with media outlets
• Organize press conferences and meetings with media outlets (when necessary)
• Media monitoring
• RCI Website management
• Regular update of the news section with storie
• Updating website’s different menus
• Creation of event based new website
• Monitor and secure Web servers § Website optimization
• Regular update and management of websites
• Website backup and upgrade
• Restore of websites
• Implement search engine optimization strategy
• Insure the security of websites ü Social media management
• Twitter (Use live tweet during events; recording the key event of RCI with picture, drafting a tweet, editing before posting, posting a tweet,Facebook, Flickr,YouTube (Taking video shoot, Editing the video, Posting the video)
• Ensure production of high quality content & communication materials
• Coordinate and monitor placement and responses on key issues regarding RCI
• Ensure online presence of RCI with quality content
• Supervise content creation schedules based on RCI priorities, events, policies and programs
• Supervise the implementation of communication campaigns on key RCI programs and events Ensure good internal Communication within RCI
