Civil Society Organisations and Local Government Entities (Districts and the City of Kigali) in Rwanda can now apply for funding to undertake climate change adaptation initiatives across the country.
Funding is available for organisations and institutions to undertake practical initiatives, projects, and programmes that support communities to adapt to the negative impacts of climate change. This opportunity has been made possible thanks to support from the Adaptation Fund's Rwanda Subnational Adaptation Fund Enhanced Direct Access Project, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Environment through the Rwanda Green Fund.
Civil Society Organisations and Local Government Entities (Districts and the City of Kigali) with project proposals in the following sectors will be eligible for funding:
Climate Smart Agriculture
Sustainable Land-Use Management
Integrated Water Resource Management
Small Scale Irrigation
Proposed projects must also be sustained after the conclusion of the funding, offer an excellent return on investment, target a high number of beneficiaries, promote gender and social inclusion and comply with Rwanda Green Fund's Environmental and Social Management Framework.
HOW TO APPLY
Applications are open to Civil Society Organisations and Local Government Entities (Districts and the City of Kigali) until 5:00 PM on Friday, 20 October 2023 at www.greenfund.rw.
Prospective applicants can contact application@greenfund.rw with any questions.
MORE INFORMATION
WHAT IS THE ADAPTATION FUND ENHANCED DIRECT ACCESS INITIATIVE?
The Adaptation Fund's Enhanced Direct Access (EDA) initiative aims to empower developing country recipients of international climate finance beyond what can be achieved through the Direct Access modality alone, by devolving decision-making in the programming of internationally allocated funds to the national and sub-national levels.
Enhanced Direct Access projects are determined at the country-level through specific requests and proposals made by local beneficiaries at the sub-national level. This offers opportunities for: piloting innovation built on bottom-up approaches through local knowledge and locally led action; generating additional knowledge for replication; and promoting the development of public private partnerships.
